Training

Concordia encourages new players to take private lessons in order to develop sound playing techniques.

A list of experienced teachers of mandolin and guitar can be provided on request.

To supplement private lessons and facilitate entry into the Ensemble as playing members, Concordia invites
 new and developing players to join our Student Training Program.

The Program currently includes monthly tutorials given by our Musical Director on various aspects of orchestral playing.
 It is planned to extend the program to include small-group playing on a more frequent basis.

These gatherings of students and the tutorials will be held on Wednesday nights
 preceding the weekly rehearsals of the Ensemble.

In addition to the above, the training program also includes the granting of bursaries to people
 interested in learning the mandolin and becoming members of Concordia.
As mandolins and violins have the same tuning,  this may be of interest to violin players. Conditions apply.
